Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 20, 2026

Furlong Field Services, LLC (“Furlong Field Services,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes the K9 Wally mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using K9 Wally, you agree to the practices described here.

Who this App is for

K9 Wally is invitation-only software for members of Search & Rescue (SAR) K9 teams. It is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, children under 13.

Information We Collect

Account information

We use Auth0 to authenticate users. When you sign in, we receive your email address and, if you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, the basic profile information (such as name and email) those providers share with us. Access to the App is invitation-based: your email address is checked against a list of authorized users before an account can be created.

Location data

K9 Wally's core purpose is GPS tracking during SAR training exercises. When you actively use tracking features, the App collects precise location data, including while the App is running in the background, so that a handler's or K9's track can continue recording while the device is locked or another app is in use. Location data is used to plot tracks and search areas on a map (via Azure Maps) and to synchronize training data with the rest of your team. Background location collection can be disabled through your device's system settings, which will stop track recording while the App is not in the foreground.

Camera

The App uses your device's camera to scan QR codes, for example to link a device to a tracking session. We do not access the camera for any other purpose, and captured images are not stored beyond decoding the QR code.

Training data you enter

Information you or your team enter into the App — such as dog and handler information, log entries, locations, notes, and search assignments — is stored so that it can be synchronized across devices and reviewed by your team. This data is stored using Microsoft Azure services.

Diagnostic and crash data

If the App encounters an error, it may send a diagnostic report to our backend, including error details, stack traces, a timestamp, and basic device/app version information. We use this solely to diagnose and fix problems with the App.

How We Use Information

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How Information Is Shared

Training data you enter (tracks, log entries, notes) is visible to other authorized members of your SAR team, consistent with the App's collaborative purpose. We also share information with service providers who help us operate the App, currently:

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Furlong Field Services, our users, or the public.

Data Retention

We retain account and training data for as long as your account is active or as needed to support your SAR team's recordkeeping. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time using the contact information below.

Your Choices

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information collected through the App. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
